Void Question #14, Weekly Battles, new Touney!

Fri Jul 3, 2009, 4:14 PM
Angie here smelling of coffee because I just got home from work. All of you people that took this week off and decided to come to the mall are very evil indeed. Got a decent sized update for you guys because there's a brand new tourney coming up!

Void News

Master of Disaster Tournament

"A Major Disaster will occur and those taking part in the Tourney must see to it that their character can survive.... with or without their fellow VOIDlings.

But as with any disaster, you can never predict what will happen or when or to whom....so the actual type of Disaster will not be announced until after the Selection of the Artists taking part. It could be anything; a Tornado or an Earthquake or a Plague or a Crime Wave....no one will know what dire fate is awaiting those chosen until it is too late.

An 8 slot tourney taking place over 2 rounds. Round One will consist of two 4-way Elimination Matches with the winner of each continuing forward into a final 2-way match for Round Two.
Each Artist will be responsible for a comic supporting the Announced Theme and depicted use of all of the characters within his/her selected group. In round Two it is suggested from a narrative standpoint (but not required) to depict any survivors from the winning comic in Round One in the Comic for Round Two."

You can read all the juicy details [link] here as well as sign up for the tournament.

And for battle news, lots of battles coming up, some old faces have gotten back into the saddle, be sure to check them out!

Now for this week's question

To go along with the new tourney, I figured I'd throw in a tournament themed question

What would be your ideal 8 slot tournament? What kind of tournament would it be? What 8 fighters would you want in it the most?

Random Battles of the Week

This week I was uncreative and went into the DA chat and asked people to link me their favorite battles they've done. I went with the first 3 people to respond

Dr.Salt vs. Amazingdavid [link]
Marcelo Reyes vs. Aesimi and Beethoven [link]
TLBot vs. Osbot [link]

Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July!

And that's it for now! Please direct any questions or comments related to the DA to :iconangieness::iconkotori-ky:

Void Question #13 and Weekly Battles!

Fri Jun 26, 2009, 1:02 PM
Angie here, fresh from the shower to update the Void DA. I never noticed how much of a hold coffee had on me until I decided to take a break from it, so a small update for today while I'm dealing with caffeine withdrawal.

Void News

The Void Store [link] is finally open! You can also purchase Void related buttons at [link] to show the world how much you love Void on your jackets and way indie messenger bags.

None this week, slackers! The art doesn't have to be brand new just so you know.

Now for this week's question

This is one that was asked on Vcast once, I think it would be a fun one to throw at you guys. What are your dream Void matchups? Feel free to list as many as you like! For example Crazy Sam vs. Bacardi

Random Battles of the Week

This week's theme is cat fights! And by that I mean female vs. female! (although I'm sure there's lots of kitty fights to choose from on Void)

Lune vs. Fushigi [link]
Latem vs. JJ [link]
Harriet Glauben vs. Ji Kei [link]

And that's it for now! Please direct any questions or comments related to the DA to :iconangieness::iconkotori-ky:

Void Question #12 and Weekly Battles!

Thu Jun 18, 2009, 11:53 PM
Angie here, I'm sure you guys were devastated I took a week off. Well, last week was pretty busy and I totally forgot to do it so I figured I'd just let it go a week. So anyways...

Void News

The Serious Business Tournament is in the final round, with Jared Lewis and Phillip Chanter as the finalists. Be sure to give those guys your support! I know I'm looking forward to seeing the last chapters of these entries.

We're currently discussing the next possible tournament, it's going to be another brand new one so keep an eye out for it! And as usual, many new features are being worked on and will be revealed in time.

And for those of you that enjoy doing jams, [link] I recently opened a Coloring School in the jams section. So feel free to post your colored art for critique and give others advice and tips. Since it's summer I hope to see the jams get a little busier, you're more than welcome to start your own jams as long as you have art in the first post.

Now for this week's question

Do you prefer to take on longer deadlines or shorter ones? Please explain why.

Random Battles of the Week

This week's theme is first battles, let's see how some of the current active fighters lost their battle virginity.

Thia vs. J-pop [link]
Phill vs. Mr.Kick [link]
Drednaught vs. Shredd [link]

and wow, is it just me or is it just that a lot of first battles result in their opponents defaulting? The same thing happened on my first battle too! Lets keep this kind of thing from happening!

And that's it for now! Please direct any questions or comments related to the DA to :iconangieness::iconkotori-ky:

Void Question #11, Weekly Battles, and DA ID!

Fri Jun 5, 2009, 4:34 PM
Angie here for a very small update! And way groggy from a nap.

I want to start off by saying, the Void DA needs a sweet DA ID to complete the page. If anyone wants to knock one out please toss it my way! It doesn't have to be anything flashy and doesn't have to have characters on it. So if any of you are interested please note it to the Void DA and I'll take a look. I'll put them up for voting if I get more than one entry.

None this week, slackers! The art doesn't have to be brand new just so you know.

Now for this week's question

What is your process when you make a comic? Do you work purely from thumbnails? Start out from a script?

Random Battles of the Week

This week's theme is Tournament matches! Void's Battle Archive is currently broken so I could only go back so far, tried to give some good old non SDT Tournament matches some love.

Estrella D' Muerte vs. P2 [link]
Charlie vs. Indigo [link]
Traveler vs. Veronica Nightingale [link]

Now for this week's question

Do you think that everyone should be able to set up scar matches the normal way again? To those not in the know, at the moment scar matches can only be set up through the mods. Please explain why it would or wouldn't be a good idea.

Random Battles of the Week
